Nobody wants to give up the habits they love and enjoy, but to have a baby, it is worth it. Right?

 Nowadays, it seems like that anything can mess with your fertility. This includes everyday habits like over stressing and using smart phones.

You should change some of your habits while trying to rimanere incinta. In this blog post we have summed up such items which needed to be ignored at that time.

The habit of smoking:                                                                                                 

Smoking is not only bad for the men it is also harmful for a woman who is trying to conceive. All couples involved in fertility counselling are recommended to give up smoking as early as possible. As per survey records it takes longer to conceive for the women who smoke a lot.  The habit of smoking increases the chances of ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. Oh, and your partner should give up smoking too. Men, who smoke a lot, have lesser motility and sperm count.  They also have the tendencies of sperm abnormalities.

Say no to alcohol:

Sorry ladies, but you need to ignore your friends’ bar crawl when you are trying to get pregnant. Some modern surveys show that even a limited level of alcohol can increase the risk of miscarriage. Excessive drinking leads to lack of ovulation, irregular periods and abnormal progesterone and estrogens levels. Your partner also needs to limit his alcohol intake. Drinking can affect the men’s fertility as well.

Too much caffeine:                                                            

 Do not panic. You don’t have to cut out your morning cup of cappuccino. But if you use to have more than 200 milligrams of coffee per day then you really need to ease up.  Consuming large amounts of caffeine can lead to several fertility problems. That is why, it is worth cutting back now.

Stress:

Yes, intense and chronic stress can mess with your reproductive system. People may have already told you, “relax and it will happen”, if you are having a hard time getting pregnant. Stress can interfere with the operating of the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is the gland of your brain which regulates your emotions and appetites. It also controls the hormones which interfere with your fertility.

You may ovulate later in your cycle if you are stressed out. However, it varies from woman to woman.

Being a couch potato:

Do you keep creating excuses not to exercise? Well, some researches revealed that doing moderate exercises such as golfing, brisk walking, cycling can really help.

Too much exercise:

Doing exercises is certainly a good habit but don’t overdo it. It is seen that vigorous exercises enhanced the span of time of getting pregnant.

High- mercury fish:

You need to avoid consuming fishes like shark, tuna, tilefish, marlin, and swordfish because these are higher in mercury. High levels of mercury in the blood can disturb the nature of fertility in both women and men. Mercury can damage a foetus’s nervous system and brain.

In short, you have to take utmost care of your daily routine and lifestyle for a healthy fertility.
